One of the most frequent questions I get asked is whether or not it’s important to update your professional headshot is important. Absolutely!
There’s nothing more silly than when someone meets you and you don’t look anything near the version you’ve represented in your headshots. Believe it or not it happens ALL the time! Most people update their professional headshots in the Seattle area once every six to seven years. When it comes to real estate, mortgage or the banking industry this number can sometimes be even higher, like every 8, 10 or 15 years. The other day I saw someone’s professional headshots that were so different that the headshot literally looked like it could have been their daughter.
What can you do to make sure you have updated professional headshots?
The best thing is to have consistent portraits every year or two, many times that are more ‘lifestyle’ type to mix things up. People love to see a mixture or headshots that are more relaxed and fun, with something more of a professional workplace headshot, depending on your industry of course.
